Nursing and personal care at home for veterans

QuestCare is a contracted DVA Community Nursing provider. We’re a family-owned Canberra business and we’ve been caring for people in their own homes for more than 25 years. When you call us, you talk to someone in our Belconnen office, not a call centre.

Local care from people who know Canberra

Our nurses and care workers live and work in the same community as you. You’ll get to know the people who visit you, and if something changes you can pick up the phone and speak to someone who knows your care.

We work with veterans, their families and carers. With your agreement, we also keep in touch with your GP and anyone else involved in your health care, so everyone is on the same page.

Alongside Community Nursing, QuestCare also delivers NDIS supports, Support at Home services and allied health (occupational therapy, physiotherapy and counselling). If you need more than one kind of support, we can talk about how it fits together.

What Community Nursing doesn't cover

Community Nursing is for nursing and personal care only. It doesn’t cover things like cleaning, laundry, shopping, meals, transport, social support or respite.

For help around the house, DVA has a separate program called Veterans’ Home Care. You can arrange an assessment by calling Veterans’ Home Care on 1300 550 450.

Is there a cost?

DVA funds Community Nursing for eligible veterans, as long as the care is within the program and part of your assessed care plan. Your eligibility depends on your Veteran Card and, for White Card holders, whether the care relates to an accepted condition.

If you ask for something that sits outside the program, we’ll tell you before we provide it, so there are no surprises.

Need nursing care at home?

If you, or someone you care for, could use nursing or personal care at home, ask your GP or health professional for a referral to QuestCare. Or give us a call and we’ll explain how it works.
